Integration Objects client Saudi Aramco recognized as a Managing Automation 2010 Progressive Manufacturer

Integration Objects announced today that Saudi Aramco has been honored as a winner of Managing Automation’s 2010 Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards. This award acknowledges work done by Integration Objects and Saudi Aramco to optimize operations in Saudi Aramco’s Abqaiq Plants.

This is the sixth annual Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards, where nominees are selected by Managing Automation, a Thomas Publishing Company, LLC publication, and reviewed by an independent judging panel headed by David R. Brousell, Editor-in-Chief of Managing Automation Media, and Jeff Moad, Executive Editor of Managing Automation Media.

The project at the Abqaiq Plants facility simplified the company’s entire system architecture by implementing industrial standard solutions. The OPC client-server approach helped to improve flexibility in all areas of processing. Integration Objects’ OPCNet Broker (ONB) OPC tunneling software was used in the server and the client side for more secure communication and elimination of DCOM configuration headaches.

Saudi Aramco is the world leader in crude oil production and its Abqaiq Plants facility is the company's largest oil processing facility and the largest crude stabilization plant in the world. This facility requires both cutting-edge and reliable technology because even a very short period of unforeseen operational downtime can result in the loss of millions of dollars.

After evaluating many different alternatives against a set of rigorous requirements, Integration Objects was chosen to partner with Saudi Aramco to optimize their operations and assure a continued and uninterrupted flow of process data. With Integration Objects’ help, the process, data and alarm management technologies at the Abqaiq Plants facility, and found within Saudi Aramco in general, are world-class and leading the way in the oil industry.

Winners of the Progressive Manufacturing 100 Awards will be recognized at the Progressive Manufacturing Summit at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida on May 5, 2010.
